From a Challenge to a Community
Learn2Reg began in 2019 as a tutorial at the International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention (MICCAI), bringing together researchers to explore emerging approaches to medical image registration. What started as an educational initiative soon evolved into an international benchmarking effort, connecting research teams through shared datasets, standardized evaluation, and open scientific exchange.
Over successive challenges, Learn2Reg has expanded across anatomical regions, imaging modalities, and clinical applications. Along the way, it has helped build a collaborative research community united by a common goal: making biomedical image registration more reliable, reproducible, and clinically meaningful.
Our next chapter is about building upon this foundation, extending collaboration beyond individual challenges toward a sustained international research community.
