The CRAFT Lab studies how to build computing systems that stay dependable and trustworthy as they grow in scale and complexity. Our work connects practical systems engineering with rigorous methods, organized around the five themes that give the lab its name.

Cloud

Scalable, efficient cloud and distributed systems — the platforms, services, and resource-management techniques that power modern applications.

Reliability

Fault tolerance and resilience: how systems detect, tolerate, and recover from failures so they keep running correctly under real-world conditions.

Automation

Tools and techniques that operate and manage complex systems with less manual effort, lowering the cost and risk of running software at scale.

Foundations

The principles, models, and theory that underpin trustworthy systems, turning informal expectations into precise, checkable guarantees.

Trust

Security, privacy, and verifiability — the properties that let people and organizations safely depend on the systems they use.
