He was a staff scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory before he joined Vanderbilt University. Bo has extensive experience in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and systems biology of <em>E. coli <\/em>and photosynthetic microorganisms. His current research focuses on understanding and engineering the metabolism of photosynthetic microorganisms to optimize the biomanufacturing of sugars, amino acids, and triacylglycerol, among others. She earned her two bachelor&#8217;s degrees in Chemistry and in Forensic Science at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019 before completing her Master\u2019s degree in Pharmacology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2020. She has three years of industry experience within the disciplines of health science toxicology and food science before joining the Young Lab in June 2023.
