According to the <em>Sagas of Icelanders<\/em>, Leif Ericson established a Norse settlement in New Foundland; the part that belongs to Canada today. It is believed that Ericson was born in Iceland in 970, but he died in Greenland in 1020.<\/p>\n<p>Leif and his crew traveled from Greenland to Norway in 999.\u00a0 The two only known strictly historical mentions of <i>Vinland<\/i> are found in the work of <em>Adam of Bremen <\/em>(1075) and in the <em>the Book of Icelanders\u00a0<\/em>(1122).
