Gudrid\u2019s story is told in two of the Sagas of Icelanders, prose tales based on oral traditions which were written down during the 13th and 14th centuries. These two sagas are The Saga of Erik the Red <\/em><\/a>and\u00a0The Saga of the Greenlanders<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>which are often referred to as the V\u00ednland Sagas.<\/i> An extant copy of The Saga of the Greenlanders<\/i> can be found in Flateyjarb\u00f3k<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0a late 14th century manuscript located in the collection of the \u00c1rni Magn\u00fasson Institute for Icelandic Studies<\/span><\/a> \u00a0(Stofnun \u00c1rna Magn\u00fassonar \u00ed \u00edslenskum fr\u00e6\u00f0um) in Reykjav\u00edk.\u00a0A copy of the Saga of Erik the Red can also be found there (in a manuscript called Sk\u00e1lholtsb\u00f3k<\/i><\/a>) and in a Danish collection, the Arnamagnaean Collection<\/a> (Arnamagn\u00e6anske H\u00e5ndskriftsamling)\u00a0in Copenhagen (in a manuscript called Hauksb\u00f3k<\/i><\/a>).<\/p>\n
