Hayes has been with the MSRC Proteomics Laboratory as a co-Associate Director since June 2008. After earning his Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology at Vanderbilt in 1998, he began his work in proteomics with John Yates at The Scripps Research Institute and continued as a scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Hayes has expertise in the design and implementation of shotgun and targeted proteomics experiments, particularly in relation to protein complexes, MS-informatics, and quantitative LC-MS/MS.
