Originally from Cyprus, Dilek received her B.A in Chemistry and French from Grinnell College in Iowa in 2016. Her current work in Cliffel lab involves interfacing Photosystem I (PSI) protein with conductive polymers and porous electrodes in order to enhance charge shuttling processes from individual proteins. Due to its high photopotential, abundance and ease of extraction, PSI protein can be employed as a photosensitizer to improve the photocurrent and photopotential of many low-cost solar cells.
